Vermont Business Magazine The SBA Vermont district office is accepting nominations for its 2022 Small Business Awards. Previous winners from Vermont include Ben and Jerry’s, Mamava, and Lawson’s Finest Liquids.
These annual awards recognize the accomplishments of SBA-assisted small businesses and the contributions they have made to their communities and to the Vermont economy.
To nominate a small business in Vermont, email the business name along with the owner’s name and the specific award category for which the business is nominated to firstname.lastname@example.org. Companies can introduce themselves.
The categories are as follows:
Small Business Person of the Year
Criteria: Individual or partner who owns a small business, has increased sales, profits and number of employees, and has been in business for three years. The business must have received help from the Small Business Administration.
Small Exporter of the Year
Criteria: Small business that has increased sales, profits and / or employees due to exporting and has been in business for three years.
Small family business of the year
Criteria: The small business must have been in a family for at least 15 years and ownership passed to another generation.
Veteran Owned Small Business of the Year
Criteria: Small business owned at least 51% by a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, in business for three years.
Woman-owned Small Business of the Year
Criteria: Small business owned at least 51% by a woman, which has been in business for three years.
Small minority business of the year
Criteria: Small business owned at least 51% by an ethnic minority, in operation for three years.
Young Entrepreneur of the Year
Criteria: Individual or partner who owns a small business, under the age of 30 and in business for three years.
Micro-enterprise of the year
Criteria: Individual or partner who owns a microenterprise with five or fewer employees, has received SBA assistance and has been in business for three years.

COVID19 EIDL Application Deadline December 31
The COVID-19 pandemic economic disaster loan submission deadline is December 31 at 11:59 p.m. EST. No new loan application will be accepted after the December 31 deadline.
Applicants are encouraged to submit their application as soon as possible. The SBA will continue to review loan applications after the deadline.
