Tony Khan asked about women’s wrestling, gives the most dull answer possible

AEW President Tony Khan answered questions medias today before this Saturday evening (November 13) Full equipment pay per view. Among the topics covered was the fact that he still hasn’t spoken to Bray Wyatt despite the 90-day non-compete clause, how he hopes to bring Double or nothing 2022 back in Las Vegas, and as for the soon to be released ROH roster, you never know who might just show up on AEW lineup.

The only answer I want to focus on is Khan’s response when asked whether AEW could potentially host an all-female event. For some context here, it’s important to know that NWA hosted an all-female event named Empowerrr in August, and the Impact organized an all-female event named Knockout Knockdown in October.

Here is the question Khan received today from Ella Jay from SEScoops:

“I think the bar has been really high this year with a lot of female shows and main events, but does AEW have any plans or hopes to maybe contribute to an all-female event at some point … “

The reason the question isn’t over is because Tony gets extremely defensive and interrupts her between the word “some” and “time” as she asks the question. He cuts it off with the dullest answer possible:

“I’m going to cut off your question here because I don’t think I have enough credit for what I did for the NWA show, as many of the people who wrestled on the NWA show were wrestlers that I have.” sent and paid. So I think I contributed because the highest paid wrestlers on this show were actually the people I paid separately from what they already earn in AEW to go wrestling on this show. And I don’t think they did a very good job telling people that, honestly, even though it was in the deal we made. I wish they would tell more people that because that was one of the points I made when we closed it I think it would be nice if you told people I pay them wrestlers who come, because it is a great contribution from me. ..So I paid the wrestlers for this show. It’s kind of like when you pay for dinner and no one is thanking you.

My God. Let it all sink in. These are words Tony Khan actually used to answer a question about women’s wrestling.

Tony Khan, please go back and read your own words transcribed above. If you don’t think you look like an insufferable, insecure asshole, then allow an ordinary person like me to translate to my ears what the shit you just threw up sounds like in my ears:

‘Me me me blah blah blah my money I’m the money guy talk about me more blah blah blah I deserve more credit I’m the one who paid for the dinner blah blah blah I’m the best in women’s wrestling contribute blah blah blah Fuck Them everything revolves around me I’m super awesome and I make money blah blah blah it’s so many inches long blah blah blah me me me money money money talk more about me and my money ‘

That’s what you look like, Tony Khan. What is wrong with you?

Khan goes on to promote Ruby Soho, Thunder Rosa and the TBS Championship Tournament. But of course, he can’t help it and concludes once again by talking about his financial contributions to all of the women’s wrestling shows from other companies:

“So I was and I try to actively make great progress in women’s wrestling. And in regards to a lot of things that have happened in all the female shows that have happened in other places, I actually made some great contributions, including financial contributions, which I think they would have. could do a better job of telling people about, honestly.

If Tony gave Ella a few more seconds to answer his question, it would be obvious that she wasn’t downplaying her contributions to women’s wrestling in 2021. No, she was just asking if he had any plans for an all-female AEW event. . The answer to that question has to be no, as Khan cuts her off and gets weirdly super-defensive about it. He wouldn’t have to worry so much about receiving more public recognition for his contributions to women’s wrestling if his own product reflected that it was a top priority.

I think AEW’s women’s division has great potential and I’m optimistic about its future direction. But Tony Khan’s head is so firmly planted in his own ass with the above answer that I now have to reconsider this position. This man just answered a question about an all-female wrestling event and talked about him and his money and not having enough people to recognize him how awesome he is . He even talks about receiving this recognition as if it were part of the terms of negotiation with other companies. It’s a bit sad and pathetic. This is the dullest answer possible.
