Kathy koshgarian, the president and chief operating officer of the Milwaukee-based company Dohmen Corporate Foundation, will be honored as the 11 of BizTimes Milwaukeee Winner of the Executive Woman of the Year award.
Koshgarian will be recognized at Symposium on Women in Business, to be held Thursday, August 19, from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Italian Community Center. Click here to sign up.
Koshgarian joined Dohmen in 2012. During her tenure with the company, she oversaw the launch of Dohmen Life Science Services.
Koshgarian helped facilitate The Dohmen Co.’s 2019 conversion from a six-generation family business to a privately-owned, foundation-owned service company. Under this structure, the profits of the company are donated to the foundation for charitable purposes. Dohmen was only the second organization in the country to adopt this structure.
After Dohman left the pharmaceutical industry in 2019, Koshgarian changed the focus of the company. With the company’s transition to a philanthropic enterprise, Koshgarian led the creation and implementation of its Food for Health Milwaukee program. The program, a partnership with the Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative, has provided thousands of meals to people at or below the federal poverty line.
“She changed Dohmen’s historically treatment-oriented market strategy to a new preventive health offering using food as the superior means to reverse chronic disease and preserve human health,” said Cynthia LaConte, who retired in 2020 from the daily operations department of Dohmen. Koshgarian assumed the role of President of Dohmen after LaConte retired.
Koshgarian was also responsible for developing plans to move the headquarters of the Third Quarter Foundation to the former Fein Brothers building on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
“(Koshgarian) has successfully facilitated extraordinary changes over the past few years,” said LaConte. “She has gone through critical transitions using the power of the lens to effect impactful change. Kathy is a rare combination of a the executiveutive that silently accomplishes great things. She has made incredible progress in changing our business, our community and the world for the better. “
