As companies continue to talk about the need for greater diversity, fairness and inclusion within their businesses, diversity consultant Jina Etienne offers another key element to include in the conversation. DCI – something many might ignore.
“The goal of inclusion is belonging,” said Etienne. “It’s about creating a workforce where everyone feels like part of the team. Data shows performance improves, turnover decreases, absenteeism decreases, all of these things boost retention. Retention ultimately drives development toward leadership.
Even as businesses of all sizes, including those in the mortgage industry, have placed more emphasis on diversity and inclusion, the results of a recent study by Arizent, the parent company of National Mortgage News, show that there is still a lot of work to do before reality aligns with good intentions.
“There are more desires than in the past, and I think it’s genuine, with some of the bigger companies trying to improve the experience of diverse employees and diversify the workforce,” said Jerome Nichols, President of Commercial Real Estate. financial and portfolio management company Standard Real Estate Investments.
