Brighten Home Loans wins inclusivity award

Non-bank lender Brighten Home Loans is celebrating after being named one of the country’s most inclusive employers by the Diversity Council Australia (DCA).

Brighten was named an Inclusive Employer 2021-2022, recognizing the non-banking commitment to inclusion in the workplace and various hiring strategies.

They can boast that 56.3% of their staff identify as women, with 41.4% of the management team also being women. Over the past 12 months, the lender has seen a 70% increase in the number of women hired.

By comparison, 47.4% of all employed people in Australia are women and 33.5% are business leaders. The latest statistics suggest that 27% of brokers are women, although the number is increasing.

Scott Kelly, chief executive of Brighten Home Loans, said the company has made diversity a core tenet of its business and that awards like DCA are just a byproduct of the environment that ‘she hoped to create.
